I would like to preface that I am 100% pro-gun and pro-hunting.  I would like to know what peoples opinions are on the idea of passing a test in order to purchase a firearm.  I Personally like the idea.  I know, I know, it's infringing on our 2nd amendment rights and all that. Honestly, though, I think that it would do a great deal to give gun-owners and hunters a better reputation.

You have to take hunter's safety to get a hunting license, why not make it so for purchasing a firearm.  Frankly, I get scared to death when I go to the firearms counter at Cabela's and see all these dumbasses "testing" out the Glock that they want to buy.  They point it in the direction of people, they dry fire the weapon, and frankly have no respect for the weapon whatsoever. I'm not sure about you, but I was raised to respect firearms to the fullest extent.  If my dad even heard a rumor that I was treating a pistol the way some of these yay-hoos do, he'd blister my butt until I had a hard time walking.

What do you think?  Should we have to take a test to purchase a firearm, or is it something that could get too far out of hand?
