Toby, you're wrong about the people who defend wolves in the wild. Take me, for instance
1. I think PETA are nuts.
2. I've been a big-game eater (though not hunter -- can't hit the broad side of a barn)all my life -- I even cooked a porcupine once.
3. I was born in Colorado and lived there through grade school, eating venison every fall & winter
4. I lived part of my adult life in Idaho, where I spent time out in the woods, white-water rafting, and up in the mountains.
5. I have, in fact (and unlike your claim on LOBO WATCH) met wolves and other large predators. Scary? Yes. Exciting? More.

I now live out in the woods in Western Washington, and in our area the deer population, due to lack of predation, is out of control and unhealthy. There are coyotes but they'd rather eat squirrels & housecats than go to all the work of taking down a deer --even our little Pacific White-tails. Bow hunting is allowed but there just aren't enough bow hunters to properly cull the damn bambis.

Yes, as your LOBO WATCH site claims, the reintroduction of wolves to Yellowstone has significantly reduced the elk population -- but not through predation. The majority of the elk have simply gone elsewhere. As a result, the riverbanks are no longer over-browsed, the willows and other brush have grown back which has lowered the water temperature, and the game fish are once again spawning in the Yellowstone River. Far from throwing things out of balance, having wolves in Yellowstone has benefited the entire ecosystem.

As for cattle predation by wolves, let me tell you what I observed while living in Idaho: Cattle and those woolly maggots known as sheep are being run on marginal land, over-grazing and destroying it. The BLM is still working by 19th Century rules under which the health of the land doesn't matter, and leasing grazing rights at prices far below 20th Century values, much less 21st. If stock was not run where it doesn't belong, it would not be vulnerable to wolf attacks. Oh -- and that photo of the black angus with its haunches all tore up? That's a cougar attack, not a wolf.

The problem is that this shows hunters a plain stupid rednecks, what we as hunters must really put up opposition to is the marketing company that designed this ad campaign. Yes it is Samsung's choice in the end but the company who put this together for them is the bottom line anti-hunting supporter. Find who this company is and then start the email campaign to boycott all Samsung products if this company is ever heard of in association with them again.
If you make it bad business to write ad campaigns like this you will affect the marketing industry and in effect cause change far faster than going after the foreign giants of the electronic industry.

I am curious, in all areas of States Rights why don't the states simply reclaim their right to self determination and open hunting laws for predators that are destroying other wildlife within their own states?

Similar to AZ and its immigration laws, Montana and its Firearms Laws etc. the states do have the right and obligation to say NO. The Constitution is unambiguous about the authority the Federal Government has on owning land. The Federal Government is not allowed to own land other than to house troops and maintain the Capital in DC. All of the laws passed that gave the Federal Government so called "Authority" are a sham and States like Montana need to take back what is rightfully within its boundaries.

Oh, I have heard the nonsense about the reason states do not say NO is the flow of money will stop. What a great idea, because the flow of money folks is from the people to the Government.

Make it legal to shoot a dog that is agressively persuing protected game even if that dog is a protected species. In Utah it is legal to shoot a dog that is agressively persuing deer, elk, moose, ect. If that dog happens to be a wolf, then it should be legal to shoot it.

Penny Lane, You think you live life right do you. That is your opinion and that you think Obama is going to help us. That is your opinion! Our opinion is that the great outdoors and freedom of hunting is the best thing in the world,so why don't you and everyone that is butting in to our sport just do somthing like feed a hungry child or help a child that is getting abused. If half the antis would spend that money in helping a human then animals would benifit from that.Antis get a life and stay out of ours...
